Sadly the CIO has decided that OHSU no longer requires a telecommunications division and my entire department has been layed off. Our last day will be the 17th.

It looks like OHSU is going to be having layoffs for sure, which I find irritating in light of Executive Bonuses

2008 - Recaps
- The Great Mystery Illness: Doug beat effects of the unknown and was been home for three months over the Summer of 2008. Blood tests, CAT scans, and X-Rays have revealed that he doesn't have cancer, diabetes, or any other major diseases. The doctors at OHSU were baffled, especially with the continuing severe breating issues, fatigue, and other fun items Doug dealt with daily. On the plus side, when he's wasn't sleeping (about 20 hours a day) Doug was able to spend some quality time with Madden. As of December 2009 he is almost back to normal :)
- Rikka's Passing: Our older German Shepherd, Rikka, passed away the last weekend in June. At over seven years old Rikka was getting up there in age, but her loss has been hardest on both Doug and Lothar, our other GSD. Lothar is missing his partner most. We brought Rikka home while we were dating, so she has been with us the entirety of our relationship and was our 'first' child. We miss her.
- Broadcast Television Sucks: Doug was asked to participate in a blog about the issues with traditional broadcasting and schedule cancellations from the 2007-2008 season by a friend. Tim has an excellent feel for the issues and Doug contributes analysis and commentary relating to expanding viewer interaction beyond the idiot box. You can participate in the new blog by visiting Prime Time for Change.
- Gemini Division: While we are on the subject of non-traditional broadcasting, the newest venture from Electric Farm Entertainment is about to launch on NBC. Electric Farm's Webbie-nominiated Afterworld kicked off a successful first season and we are pleased to see how Gemini Division performed. If you haven't seen the Webby nonminated Afterworld we recommend you visit the site; additional information including interviews and scripts can be found at Afterworld Theories. Likewise, Gemini Division Files offers similar fun things from that Steamy nominated show (Rosario won a Steamy for her role).
- Updated Galleries: We have been keeping on top of the DVD library, so it is current, and new photos have been added to the personal gallery showing Madden's First Haircut.
